S E P A R A T I O N
you have reached the depths,
growing and thriving still, shining golden as our trophy
though we haven’t the slightest sign,
that our coveted prize will ever be won.
you streak through our years,
the red flame that burns in ebbs and flows,
never quite reaching to fill the void,
circling our hearts in tormenting patterns.
you pull us down,
to your haven of deep, somber blues,
and when we are alone,
you threaten to drown us in your sorrowful sky.
Treacherous, beautiful HOPE
you fill us with wonder,
at the possibilities of purple skies,
lining our clouds of doubt with the faith of children,
and we are pulled into our richest dreams…
as if they would come true.
